Mineral Chemistry and Thermodynamics and Chemical Kinetics
(University of Sciences and Technology of Oran, 2025-06-22) Zakia, HAMMOU
This handout was developed for students in the material science second year. It is a chemistry module, which can also be intended for other courses and other specialties in the third year or master's first year degree such as: analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, medicine, natural and life sciences, chemistry, etc. We want you to acquire certain skills that are specific to the experiments design and implementation in the chemistry laboratory. To achieve this, the module is divided into several practical works that will include a mineral part chemistry in the first semester, and thermodynamics another part and chemical kinetics in the second semester. This module objective is to apply the knowledge and tools acquired during "mineral chemistry" and "thermodynamics and chemical kinetics", necessary for understanding reactions in aqueous solution, with particular emphasis on acid-base reactions and redox reactions in the first part, as well as thermodynamic properties knowledge and reaction orders in the second part. Consequently, it is essential that the student takes a particular interest and motivation in this training component
